Song in more detail:
Firstly, this is just an acoustic approximation of the song. Just the best way that I
have found to play it on a solo acoustic guitar. There are some 2nd guitar bits
in the second verse that are lovely and if you have a loop recorder you might fancy
going off on them whilst the melody continues, but I don't have a loop recorder so
I didn't bother working them out. The end bit, where they go off on one about
enchiladas, is a bit weird and ends with a fadeout which doesn't really work on a solo
acoustic. I made up my own way of playing it. Totally different, but it works much
better in the absence of production.
Please remember: this is never going to sound exactly like the recording but it's the
best way I've found to play it on a solo acoustic.
Play around with it, make it your own interpretation.

Standard tuning.

INTRO: Use your thumb to strum rapidly, but softly, up and down to create a tremulo effect. Slide your left hand between the chords for the intro. Sounds crazy, but Iprefer it without barring the chords. E F G F E (repeat x4)e---0---0---0---0---0----------|B---0---0---0---0---0----------|G---1---2---4---2---1----------|D---2---3---5---3---2----------|A---2---3---5---3---2----------|E---0---0---0---0---0-0--0-0-0-|
Whilst strumming the E you might like to use your left hand thumb to play the low e-string (it kinda subsititutes for that bass/thump noise you can hear in the original recording).
VERSE: Play the "A" as the higher bar chord and, just before you transfer to the F#m, use your little finger to fret on and off the high e-string 7th fret (you'll work it out). A F#m Ee---5---7-7--5--2----0-------|B---5-----------2----0-------|G---6-----------2----1-------|D---7-----------4----2-------|A---7-----------4----2-------|E---5-----------2----0-------|
A F#m E A F#m ETake me down to where you hide,

D Bm ETijuana Lady let's take it slow, yeah well I..
D Bm E Know that I'm no head honcho, but I...
D E A F#m E
A F#m E I'll keep you warm in my silky poncho
INSTRUMENTAL BIT (I play it like as follows but you can just leave it out for simplicity) A C#/Dbm Bm E A F#/Gbm (on 9th fret) E
D Bm E Tijuana Lady where did you go? yeah well I...
D Bm I heard you lost your last sombrero,
D Bm E Tijuana Lady which way'd'you flow? I'm a..
D E A El Mariachi Desperado,
F#m ETell me where'd you hide,
A F#m E Tell me where'd you hide.
[Now, either finish with another lovely D Bm chorusy type bit eg:
D BmTijuana Lady where did you go? Yeah,
D BmI been chasing you around ol' Mejico, yeah,
D Bm ETijuana Lady let's take it slow, yeah well I..
D E A I'll keep you warm in my silky poncho.
OR.... try out my interpretation of the weird enchilda bit:]
A F#m E Em... Tell me where'd you hide?
Em B Enchilda Desperado day,
Em BSenorita come back and meet me again,
Em BBuena vista senorita hey,
Am F D AI love you so come back, be with meeeeeeee again.
