The version I first posted (and is posted at other places on UG) sounds good, it really does, but this is how M20 play it. I'll leave the original version I posted here, just in case. The words in (brackets) are still applicable. ^=Up Stroke V=Down Stroke CAPO 4CHORDS DII Em C G C9 D1---o--o--o--3--3--2---2---3--o--1--3--3--3---3---2--o--o--o--o--2---4---o--2--2--o--2--o---5---x--2--3--2--3--x---6---x--x--x--3--x--x---VERSE ONE DII It's sitting by the overcoat Em The second shelf the notes she wrote C G DII That I can't bring myself to throw away C And also DII Em Reach she said for no one else but you C 'Cause you won't turn away G DII When someone else is gone (Pause, then come into 2nd part of verse one louder, heavier, maybe with a bit of distortion) DII I'm sorry 'bout the attitude Em I need to give when I'm with you C G DII But no one else will take this shit from me C And I'm so DII Em Terrified of no one else but me C I'm here all the time G DII And I won't go away PRE-CHORUS (Gentle, single strums----------------------------) Em C G DII C It's me, yeah well I can't get myself to go away (-----------------)(Harder, louder, multiple strums again) DII Em C G He-ey, it's me, and I can't get myself to go away DII Oh God, I shouldn't feel this way now CHORUS Em(vv v ^^vv^) } Reach down your hand into your pocket } Only for Em and C in chorus C(vv v ^^vv^) } *=This stoke Pull out some hope for me G DII C9 It's been a long day, always say ain't that right Em* But no Lord, your hand won't stop it C* Just keep you trembling G DII C9 It's been a long day, always say ain't that right VERSE TWO DII Well, I'm surprised that you believe Em In anything that comes from me C G DII I didn't hear from you or someone else C And youre so DII Set in life man, a pisser they're waiting Em C Too damn bad you get so far so fast G DII So what, so long CHORUS Em* Reach down your hand into your pocket C* Pull out some hope for me G DII C9 It's been a long day, always say ain't that right Em* But no Lord, your hand won't stop it C* Just keep you trembling G DII C9 It's been a long day, always say ain't that right Now comes the solo. So it is, my version of Long Day. It works for me, maybe it'll work for me I'm not sure, hope it does. Play the chorus under it, I'm pretty sure, but maybe just play see what you can come up with for yourself. Pre-chorus: (Gentle, single strums----------------------------) Am F C G Its me, yeah well I cant get myself to go away (-------------------)(Harder, louder, multiple strums again) G Am F C He-ey, its me, and I cant get myself to go away Oh God, I shouldnt feel this way now Chorus: (Two strums, down down) Am Reach down your hand into your pocket (Three, down down up) F Pull out some hope for me (Heavier, louder, strums, multiple again) C G Its been a long day, always say aint that right (Two strums, down down) Am But no Lord, your hand wont stop it (Three, down down up F Just keep you trembling (Heavier, louder, strums, multiple again) C G F Its been a long day, always say aint that right Then I play the chorus again normally, but Rob sings the word Right over and over and stuff or something or other, and I havent figured that bit out yet but, I just play the again normally, then play the last F chord, and hold, fade out. This should all be right, but I'm not too sure if I've put the chord letters eg G C Am F the right words because I first did this on Microsoft Word, then copied and pasted, and re-arranged most of the letters. I think it's all right though, but maybe not 100% the way I play it. Anyway, this is how I play it, barring any little mistakes I may have made with the . . . Enjoy!
