Picked with the thumb and two fingers using the following
basic pattern. The 1st string is hardly ever played.

------------------------------2------------1---------------------T-------------------------------T----------------
12-string vs 6-string note: You're not going to get the same sound with a 6-string as you would with the 12-string, and more than just the lack of fullness. If you play on a 6-string you will think that Paul is playing notes on the 1st and 2nd strings that are in fact being played by the thumb hitting the high-octave bass strings. Examples of this are the first C note of the Cmaj7 run, the E note in the A-Asus2 and the G note in the C* as described below. C* note: picked as follows: -----------2------- Paul plays this as a standard open C chord. -----1------------- However, the thumb striking the 3rd string --------T---------- emphasizes the high-G string on the 12-string ------------------- guitar. If you are playing this on a 6-string --T---------------- guitar you can get a similar sound by playing ------------------- a CaddG (032013) rather than (032010). Now for the song...
