Jimmy Driftwood – Soldiers Joy chords
Chords:
***** I use UltimateGuitar.com every day, so I want to give something back. If anyone has more Jimmy Driftwood lyrics/chords, please post them! As far as I can tell there is no C in the first verse of the chorus, as bad as I want to put one in there. The intro and GDGG at the end of the chorus is my best guess on how to follow the mandolin (turn-around?) part. If this is wrong, please help me fix it! ***** Soldier's Joy By Jimmy Driftwood *** Repeat the chorus after every verse. *** INTO: G D G G VERSE 1:G CSome continental soldiers on a bivouacG DWere playing stud poker in a mountain shackG CBut every vigilante threw down his hand, when theD GCaptain of the guard gave a sharp command, ohCHORUS:G Jimmy get your fiddle out and rosin up the bowG DJohnny tune your banjo up we're gonna have a showG CBilly pass the jug around to Corporal McCoyD G G D G GWe're gonna have a tune called Soldier's JoyVERSE 2:G CThe girls in Boston are dancin' tonightG DThe gall-derned Redcoats are holding them tightG CWhen we get there we will show them howD Gbut that ain't a doin' us no good now, soVERSE 3:G CThere goes General WashingtonG DHe's got his horse in a sweeping runG CThe barefooted boys are a beggin' to fight, andD Gwe're gonna cross the Delaware River tonight, soVERSE 4:G COld Burgoyne in the wildernessG DGot his army in an awful messG CThe farmers got mad at the British and Huns, andD Gcaptured ten thousand of the son of a guns, soVERSE 5:G CJohn Paul Jones in an old tin canG DScoured the ocean like a fightin' manG CThe British said Paul are you ready to strikeD Gand Paul said I'm just beginnin' to fight, soVERSE 6:G CGeneral Washington and RochanbeauG DDrinkin' their wine in the campfire's glowG CBig Dan Morgan came a gallopin' in, and saidD GWe got Cornwallis in the old Cowpens, soVERSE 7:G CWake up buddy have you heard the newsG DGrandma Britain's got an awful bruiseG CThe Redcoats cried and cursed Yorktown, while theD Gband played The World's Turned Upside Down, soVERSE 8:G CA homemade fiddle and a mandolinG DAn old banjo and a tambourineG CA big dumb bully for the drummer boyD GEverybody loves to hear the Soldier's Joy, soENDING:D GGonna have a tune called Soldier's Joy
