Jimmy Flynn – 7 Old Ladies Got Locked In The Lavatory tab
Chords:
Song: 7 Old Ladies (Got Locked in The Lavatory) Artist: Jimmy Flynn [this was actually performed by Finnigan which was Jim Flynn and Peter Stoney in the early 80s] Album: Finnigan and their "good time" travelling show - Live in the Maritimes A couple of notes before I start the song. I am from the Maritimes and there is a whole bunch of traditional songs about our seafaring history and just as many goofy songs which are meant to do nothing but bring a smile to your face. You may know Jim Flynn better as "Jimmy Flynn" the Newfoundland this was his group before he went on a solo act. The banjo is not transcribed, the guitar part is a proximity, I tabbed this from a recrod so it was hard to recognize all of the chords, that, and I have only been playing for 6 months I hope you enjoy it, the rythm is weird, but figure out what works for you! The words in brackets are instructions during the song, we like audience involvement in the Maritimes! -Chorus- G C G C Oh Dear, what can the matter be? G C D No Chord Seven old ladies got locked (optional)where? (Audience:)in the lavatory! G C G C They were there from Sunday to Saturday G C D Nobody knew they were there A (performer)la la la No Chord (audience echo)la la la (This call-and-answer is done 4 times) Actually, each time, the vocalist changed pitches from really high to really low as a gag so the guitar is lost behind this, and since this came from a live album, the mild guitar is also lost in the laughter, but you can basically choose any 4 notes you want for in here. -Verse 1- G C F C G Well the first old lady, was old Mrs. Humphry C F C G She only went in to make herself comfy C F C G But when she went to leave she couldn't get her bum free C F C Cause nobody knew she was there -Chorus- -Verse 2- G C F C G Well the next one in line was old Mrs. Draper C F C G She went in but couldn't find the paper C F (No Chord) So she used a brick layers scraper C F C And nobody knew she was there -Chorus- -Verse 3- G C F C G Well the next old lady was old Mrs. Flynn C F C G She only went in on a personal whim C F (No Chord) Somehow she got stuck between the bowl and the rim C F C Cause nobody knew she was there -Chorus- -Verse 4- G C F C G Well the next one in was Mrs. McArthur C F C G She needed to go, to the washroom she darted C F (No Chord) She paid a nickel but only (horn simulating flatulence) C F C And nobody knew she was there -Chorus- -Verse 5- G C F C G Well the next old lady was old Mrs. Schuster C F (No Chord) She sat on the handel and thought someone goosed her C F (No Chord) Said "Oh my dear, it don't feel like it used to" C F C Nobody knew she was there -Chorus- -Verse 6- G C F C G Well the last old lady was old Mrs. Mason C F C G Well she had to go so she used a basin C F C G That was the water that he washed his face in C F C Nobody knew she was there -Chorus X2- ended with a big swig-o-beer!
