Great song - makes me wish I could play violin :D
Listen to the song, tap your foot, and you'll get the rhythm.
Verse:
E|------------------------------------------------------------|B|------------------------------------------------------------|G|------------------------------------------------------------|D|-------4---4----------4---4----------4---4------------4-----|A|-----------------------------------0------------0---2-------|E|---2----------2---2----------2------------------------------|
Nature, nurture, heaven and home The
E|-----------------------------------------------------------|B|-----------------------------------------------------------|G|-----------------------------------------------------------|D|-------4---4----------4---4----------4---4------------4----|A|-----------------------------------4------------4---0------|E|---2----------2---2----------2-----------------------------|
Sum of all and by them driven To
E|----------------------------------------------------------|B|----------------------------------------------------------|G|----------------------------------------------------------|D|-------4---4----------4---4-----------4---4---------------|A|----------------------------------------------------------|E|---2----------2---2-----------2---0------------0----------|
Conquer every mountain shown But IÂ’ve
E|-----------------------------------------------------------|B|-----------------------------------------------------------|G|-----------------------------------------------------------|D|-------4---4----------4---4----------4---4------------4----|A|-----------------------------------4------------4---0------|E|---2----------2---2----------2-----------------------------|
Never crossed the river
Braved the forest, braved the stone,
Braved the icy wind and fire
Braved and beat them on my own
But IÂ’m helpless by the river.
& so on.
Intro:
The intro is the same picking pattern as the verses, except that it starts mid-bar, on
C#. So basically thereÂ’s this little pattern and then you start playing the verse.
E |-------------------------|B |-------------------------|G |-------------------------|D |-------4---4---------4---|A |----4---------4---0------|E |-------------------------|
Voila.
ThatÂ’s the main acoustic picking part for the whole song. As the violin comes in with
hands of the many must join as one, It'll take a lot more than words and guns...' The
(or maybe its a mandolin?) starts strumming F# with a similar pattern, and other
come and go as Maynard & co. see fit.
Once you get the rhythm and get in the habit of coming in strong on the first beat of
bar this song is lots of fun to sing with.
