The Clientele – Empty chords
Chords:
Artist: The Clientele Album: Strange Geometry Song: E.M.P.T.Y. Tabbed by: Jimbob - jimbobriley@gmail.com As with the other Clientele tabs, you need to add a few embellishments due to the picking. On the normal E chord during the chorus Alistair seems to use his little finger on the high E string to pick out the 4th and 2nd frets. The E* means play with the 7th fret barre version of the chord. Also use your little finger here in the chorus to pick out some of those high notes further up the neck. The B(sus4) chord means alternate between B and Bsus4 (fairly obvious in the track). | B | E | A | E | x2B E A EWhen I'm riding home at night nowB E A EI get in so tiredB E A ETo the saws and bows that spell outB E A EE-M-P-T-Y----------B E* F# But driving west nowE* BHalf-past fiveE* F#My skin is cutE* BMy hands are knivesE* F# E* B I could be anyone aliveE A EBut I just can't fitB E A EAnd it's too late to quit---------- Chorus:E* B(sus4)When the night air comes to meEI wonder if the days I've lived through countE* B(sus4)With the world strung like a rosaryEThrough faces moving in the crowd----------A E B(sus4)What is the color and the numberEWhen happiness begins?A E B(sus4)When the knight waits in the laurelsF#(low) EHesitating...---------- | C# |B I found a clarity I've never knownE A EIn fag-end weeks before I left for schoolC# The darkness in the pylonsBAnd the smoke and creosoteE A ECancelling the faces that we knew| B | E | A | E | x2 Solo: | E | (freak out on the E chord) ----------B E* F# E* BDid they forget the light inside your eyes?E* F# E* BThose simple words, those lovers' signs?E* F# E* BThe hand is dealt, the cards are playedE A EBut I just can't fitB E A EAnd it's too late to quit---------- Chorus:E* B(sus4)I saw them, and I knew them allEInside a sheet of flameE* B(sus4)I saw them, and I knew them allEInside a sheet of flame----------B E A EWhen I'm riding home at night nowB E A EI get in so tiredB E A E To the saws and bows that spell outB E A EE-M-P-T-YE-M-P-T-YE-M-P-T-Y#----------------------------PLEASE NOTE-----------------------------# # This represents the author's own work and interpretation of the # # song.
