Tonic – If You Could Only See Acoustic chords
Chords:
If You Could Only See Acoustic Version Originally Record by: Tonic Transcribed by Eric Norcross 10/09/09 www.EricNorcross.com This is the version I’ve been playing since I first learned the song back in high school. I’ve added a lot of improvisations since then, so it’s not exactly like you would hear when Tonic plays it acoustically. So don’t expect it to be dead on. This was one of the first songs I learned front to back and to this day, somehow manage to impress myself with it. ***Capo on 1*** – This is usually relative to voice, but I can’t stand playing it any other way regardless. Also, the capo on 1 is normal for this song. Most of this is open/basic chords, except when the part comes up “Sayin’ you love but you don’t”, I like to use bar chords for C & G. This is the only time I utilize the bar form. Of course most performers use the bar form on the verse chords as well, but I prefer open when playing it acoustically. Lastly, a lot of people have issues figuring out the strumming pattern. This cannot be explained. You just have to take is slow and work your way up to the speed and rhythm that best fits YOU, even if it means adding bars to the song to make it work. Over time though, you’ll figure out the best way to perform it for yourself.Am C G G* G/f F E C* AE ---0---|---0---|---3---|---3---|---3---|---1---|---0---|---0---|---0---|B ---1---|---1---|---3---|---3---|---3---|---1---|---0---|---3---|---2---|G ---2---|---0---|---0---|---0---|---0---|---2---|---1---|---0---|---2---|D ---2---|---2---|---0---|---0---|---0---|---3---|---2---|---4---|---2---|A ---0---|---3---|---2---|---x---|---x---|---3---|---2---|---5---|---2---|E ---0---|---3---|---3---|---3---|---1---|---x---|---0---|---5---|---2---|Am CIf you could only see the way she loves meG* G/fThen maybe you would understandAm CWhy I feel this way about our loveG* G/fAnd what I must doAm C G* G/f…If you could only see how blue her eyes can be when she saysWhen she says she loves me Em (let ring) Am E G F G Am E G F FG AWell you got your reasonsG AAnd you got your liesG A FAnd you got your manipulationsC slide to C*They cut me down to sizeAm CSayin you love but you don’tG FYou give your love but you wontAm CIf you could only see the way she loves meG* G/fThen maybe you would understandAm CWhy I feel this way about our loveG* G/fAnd what I must doAm C G* FIf you could only see how blue her eyes can be when she saysFWhen she says she loves meQuick Interlude (G& F are barred) Am Em G FG ASeems the road less traveledG A C slide up to C*Shows happiness unraveledG AAnd you got to take a little dirtG A FTo keep what you loveC slide up to C* That’s what you gotta doAm CSayin you love but you don’tG FYou give your love but you won’tG FYou’re stretching out your arms to something that’s just not thereAm CSayin you love where you standG FGive your heart when you canAm CIf you could only see the way she loves meG* G/fThen maybe you would understandAm CWhy I feel this way about our loveG* G/fAnd what I must doAm C G* G/fIf you could only see how blue her eyes can be when she saysWhen she says she loves meAm CSayin you love but you don’tG FYou give your love but you won’tG FYoure stretching out your arms to something thats just not thereAm CSayin you love where you standG FGive your heart when you canAm CIf you could only see the way she loves meG* G/fThen maybe you would understandAm CWhy I feel this way about our loveG* G/fAnd what I must doAm C G* G/f…If you could only see how blue her eyes can be when she saysWhen she says she loves me
